RUDY TROUVÉ
Fans of the musical centipede Rudy Trouvé (the man that sets up bands
faster than his shadow) can administer themselves a multi-medial overdose of their
hero by going to the Dutch city of Haarlem next weekend. Over there, organisation
Het Patronaat organises a festival under the title "Welcome to Heavenhotel
- the notes & images of Rudy Trouvé". After earlier editions about
Charles Bukowski, Billy Childish and Jacques Brel,

in Café Studio, tel +3123-5311078)
- exposition of his paintings (which were used on the sleeves of the works of

My Jazz ...) up till March 7th, Saturdays & Sundays from 12.00 to 17.00

CRUSH
People who witnessed the "Pop Poll-evening" in the Ancienne Belgique
in 1997, already knew it, others might be surprised to find out that swimmer &
olympic gold-medal-winner Fred Deburghgraeve not only has a passion for listening
to loud rocking music, but that he's also actively involved in playing it. Fred
plays the bass in the band Crush, together with some other members of swimming
club RZV Roeselare.
They do in fact take the matter very seriously and have made a considerable progression,
as is witnessed by their first cd "Prime Time"
, released in October of last year. The production was done by Franky De Smet-Van
Damme of the well-known ex-band Channel Zero.
If you want to find out more about the group, you can do so at their official
website http://move.to/crush (bio, album, more
sound samples, the lyrics, photo's, guest book ...) or at the e-mail-address crush@netlane.be.
WILL FERDY
Flemish singer Will Ferdy is having some health problems : he will undergo an
operation (for kidney stones & prostate problems) in the Middelheim-hospital
in Antwerp today. The 71-year old singer will have to remain in the hospital for
about 8 days, and will have to rest some weeks after returning home. His manager,
Eric Smets, added that the singer is not seriously ill and will probably be up
on his feet and singing on stage again from the beginning of March.

dEUS
It has just been confirmed that dEUS will play two Belgian concerts near the release
of their upcoming album "The Instant Crash". These will take place on
1 & 2 April '99 in the Ancienne Belgique, at 20h00.
Not that shocking news, but since demand for tickets will be quite high, you might
be interested to know that you can now order tickets for these gigs at the AB-site
:
April 1 : SOLD OUT
April 2 : SOLD OUT
AXELLE RED
Hoist the flag, put the stork out in the garden : Belgian singer Axelle Red (Fabienne
Demal) has given birth to a little daughter. The newborn, called Jannelle Vanes,
saw the light on Thursday at 15:53 in a hospital in Paris. Both mother and child
are doing fine (and have left the hospital already).
The 30-year old singer will now take a break for a few months, but also announced
that her new cd will be released at the end of March. The first single from it
("Ce Matin") will be released a bit earlier.
POPPUNT
Professional or Amateur musicians in Flanders now have a new adress to turn to
with their questions : Poppunt Vlaanderen. This new organisation (a collaboration
of the people of Debuutrock, De Rockfabriek, Vers Geweld, vzw Oeps and SKRIEN)
was officially launched on Thursday, with their own office (Grote Markt 41, 9100
Sint-Niklaas), a telephone number (+32.(0)3/765.07.48), their own website (http://www.poppunt.be)
and a quarterly magazine (free for members, but memberschip is 500 BEF).
On the website, that is nicely designed but still quite empty inside, you can
find announcements that musicians might find interesting (music-contests, rehearsal
rooms, podia) and articles about the music bizz. But at least they have a website,
which is more than can be said about ZAMU.

COURTCIRCUIT
Saturday 30th January, from 17 to 24 hours at the Botanique
in Brussels, the finals of the second edition of the rock-contest CourtCircuit
will take place, sort of a walloon version to the flemish counterpart "Humo's
Pop Poll".
The finalists come from 240 sent-in demo-tapes, that were reduced by a jury during
a number of preselections (one for each style of music : Metal, Rock, Chanson,
New Music) and a few regional finals. The groups (all without a record contract,
but some with already a few independent releases under their belt) that will compete
for a bag of money and eternal fame are : Mister Chickx, Leiluna, Sodascene, Xaman-Ek,
Melon Galia, Clover's Cloé, The Semitones,
Hangover, Vanilla Coke and finally Herbert West.
The order of the groups will be decided on the day itself. Before you drop everything
and take that plane, maybe it's a good idea to check if there are still tickets
available, because last wednesday there were only a few left. Info : Botanique

dEUS
For those fans dreaming to be filmed in a videoclip of the group dEUS (or for those eager to hear the new single
in avant-première), have a unique opportunity next week : Tuesday 2 and
Wednesday 3rd of April, the group will be filming the video for "Instant
Street", the first single of their album "The Ideal Crash" that
will be released in March. Especially on Tuesday they are looking for a full house
during a "discotheque" scene. Party-animals can present themselves from
8 o'clock in the evening at Café d'Anvers in Antwerp (but not too late
: the director got to be home before midnight).
Source : Interview with Tom Barman on Studio Brussel.
BTW : Musickness and a few diehard fans are busy preparing an official dEUS-website,
that will be hosted at the commercial URL "theidealcrash.com".
At the moment, the message "45 days to go" is all there is to see.
