Het NPI heeft onlangs het Databestand
van de Nederlandse popmuziek geopend, waardoor iedereen nu via internet info
over duizend vaderlandse bands kan inzien. Onze zuiderburen hebben sinds een kleine
twee jaar ook iets dergelijks, zij het minder omvangrijk. De Belgian Pop &
Rock Archives probeert, naar eigen zeggen, het verhaal te vertellen van de Belgische
pop- en rockmuziek vanaf de jaren zestig tot nu.
De mooi vormgegeven website geeft bio’s van 218 bands, houd je op de hoogte
van het laatste nieuws en bevat recensies van cd’s en concerten. Het is zonder
twijfel de meest uitgebreide site over Belgische pop en des te opmerkelijker is
het dat het archief een particulier initiatief is van één persoon.
Alle groepen en artiesten kunnen worden gezocht op naam, op chronologische volgorde
of per stijl. We namen een kijkje bij dEUS en vonden een prima bio, een complete
discografie, een groot aantal geluidsfragmenten van nummers, links naar andere
internetsites en cd- en concertbesprekingen uit andere bladen. Niets op aan te
merken.
Ook leuk is het Fan Forum, waar bezoekers cd’s te koop aan bieden of vragen
en zelf hun recensies kunnen achterlaten. Als je iets zoekt over een Belgische
band is dit echt de beste plek op het net.

The NPI (Dutch Pop Institute) has recently inaugurated the Database
of Dutch Popmusic, enabling everybody to find info about thousand bands of
our country. Our neighbours in the South also have had something like that for
two years already, although on a smaller scale. The Belgian Pop & Rock Archives
tries, in it's own words, to tell the story of Belgian pp & Rock from the
sixtes until this day.
The nicely designed websites serves up biographies of 218 bands, keeps you in
touch with the latest news and contains reviews of CD's and concerts. It is without
a doubt the most comprehensive website about Belgian pop and this is quite remarkeable
since the archive is an initiative of one private individual.
All artists can be searched by name, by chronology or by style. We took a look
at dEUS and found a fine bio, a complete discography, a large number of audio
extracts of songs, links to other websites and cd- and concert-reviews from other
magazines. Nothing to criticize.
Another nice feature is the Fan Forum, in which visitors can offer or ask cd's
for sale or leave their own reviews.
If you're looking for something about a Belgian band, this is truly the best place
on the net.
